Dr. Vinod Agarwal, CEO of the National Trust of
India visited the Centre on
11th July, 2006
to inspect the house for ‘Samarth Project’ Centre Based Scheme.
The Special Athletes from SOB,
Sikkim
participated in the Inter School Competition
organized by the Sikkim Armature Athlete Association at TNA School Ground on
12th Sept.’06

The Special Athletes of SOB,
Sikkim
participated in the State Level Championship-in
under 19 Athletes Meet held at Mining Ground, Rangpoo on
15th Sept.’06
. The event was organized by Sports & Youth
Affairs Deptt., Govt. of Sikkim.
Course for the Parents was held in the Centre from 21st-22nd Sept 06. more then
35 parents participated in the trainning programe.
Dr. Hemlata, Sr. Programme Officer and Dr. J.P. Singh, Member Secretary, RCI,
New Delhi
visited the Centre on

Mr. Angus Warre, a
UK
Citizen joined the Centre on
16th Oct.’06
as a volunteer.
During his stay here he painted the School walls, stairs at his own expenses. He
also donated a Vacuum Cleaner to the Centre. We appreciate him for his concern
and contribution for the welfare of the children of the Centre. His goodwill
will always remain in our heart.
A
One Day Workshop on “Educational Needs of Children With Disabilities”
was held on
6th October,2006
at Police Conference Hall, Gangtok, sponsored by
the Rehabilitation Council of India and organized by the Social Justice &
Empowerment Department in collaboration with the Spastics Society of Sikkim.
The
Special Athletes from SOB,
Sikkim
Team escorted by the Special Educators, Coach and
guardians participated in the National Coaching Camp held at Nehru Stadium w.e.f.
24th-27th Nov.’06

World Disabled Day in SERC on
3rd Dec 2006
sponsored by Social Justice,Empowerment and Welfare
Department, Government of Sikkim.
The
Spastics Society of Sikkim organized 6 days Training of Parents and Siblings
sponsored by the National Trust of India during 16th January to
21st January, 2007
. More than 20 Parents and Siblings from East
District of Sikkim underwent this Training Programme for the welfare of the
disabled children and their management. The main objectives were to impart
training to the Parents and Siblings of disabled persons of
Sikkim
on various aspects of training, education,
management and laws governing their children’s rights
Mrs.
Manita Pradhan, Executive Member of the Society attended a meeting organized by
Rehabilitation Council of India on Implementation of Pilot Phase of National
programme for Prevention and control of deafness on 13th Febraury 2007 at
Council’s Office,
New Delhi
.
The
Parents and Members of Spastics Society attended a
Mobile Court
for the
Persons with Disabilities organized by the Social Justice, Empowerment &
Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim in collaboration with the Chief
Commissioner for Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment,
Government of India held at DDRC, Gangtok on
22nd February 2007
. The Court heard the complaints made by disabled
persons and their families and action taken accordingly.
The
Spastics Society of Sikkim( SNAC,
Sikkim
) organized 6 days Training of Parents and Siblings
sponsored by the National Trust of India during 21st to 26th March, 2007. More
than 46 Parents and Siblings from
South Deistrict
of
Sikkim
underwent this Training Programme for the welfare
of the disabled children and their management. The main objectives were to
impart training to the Parents and Siblings of disabled persons of
Sikkim
on various aspects of training, education,
management and laws governing their children’s rights.
Shri
Santanu Mukherjee from Webel Mediatronics Limited, Kolkata visited the Centre
for Voice Recording in Nepali Language for Pictorial Software for the easy
communication of the children of SERC during 13th to 14th March 2007.
