INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AT NORTH SIKKIM

The know how of Information Technology came to the district with the establishment of a district unit of National Informatics Centre(NIC) in the year 1994. National Informatics Centre is a premier Information Technology organization of Government of India that was established way back in 1976 to provide various IT supports to government departments at various levels. Since its inception in 1994, NIC is providing hardware, software and all necessary support to the district administration and has so far handled voluminous data on election and Land Record with high rate of efficiency. District administration including various government departments in the district is rapidly atomizing the working system with support of NIC. A CD-ROM on Block Level Information prepared by NIC was released on the Independence Day function 2001. A detail profile of NIC North Sikkim is as under.
